From Vegetables to Vivid Color

Typical inks used for printing in the past have contained alarming levels of heavy metals and other toxic components. To protect the environment as well as the safety of our staff, we use vegetable-based inks on of all of our presses. In doing so, we've discovered that the best colors come not from harmful chemicals, but are seen in nature itself.

The Air We Breathe

The solvents that are needed to clean commercial printing presses usually contain high levels of VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds), which are released as gases and pose both short and long-term adverse health effects. Some hazards include damage to the liver, kidneys, and cenral nervous system with carcinogenic effects present in certain VOCs according to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The EPA and OSHA have created acceptable emissions regulations for industrial sectors for these forementioned reasons. Here at VividColor.com, we've decided to take matters into our own hands by using solvents that don't contain VOCs at all. Sure, our pressmen say that it takes much longer to dry when they're cleaning the ink rollers at the end of the day, but everyone seems to prefer it, knowing that they're breathing better and can come home to their families at night.

Recycle Everything

From the test sheets that are run through our presses to the 1/8" that is trimmed from the edge of a business card, all paper waste that we generate is recycled. Each press run requires 8 imaged aluminum plates, and with hundreds of runs a day, that's a lot of aluminum to be processed and reused. Even the leftover ink and solvents that are used get collected and recycled by specialized facilities. From the customer service team at the call center to the logistics managers at the shipping department, everyone knows to recycle.
